Here's the update I promised.

It's been a busy weekend--picking up entries, logging in those entries, AHA Big Brews on Saturday (Ft Collins) and Sunday (Cheyenne) and now labeling all the entries and staging them by category!

This year we received a total of 125 entries--the majority of which came from Front Range Brewers! This makes this competition are club's second largest competition in 12 years! Thankyou all for your support.

The competition Registrar passed on the following comment that four of the major Front Range brewclubs responded in great numbers to the call for entries. All these clubs had entries totalling in double digits and all are definitely in the running for the Ace of Clubs Competition. However, remember, the points awarded for the number entries are only one of three phases of the total points. Points will also be awarded for each judge and steward. Most important will be the points awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places (12 categories) and BOS beer.

Judging will be on this Saturday, 13 May 2006, and will be held at the Cheyenne Country Club located at 800 Stinner Rd, in Cheyenne WY. Judging sessions will begin at 9:30 am. Please try to arrive NLT 9:00 am so that we can get everyone checked in, make any necessary adjustments to our judging assignments and put our stewards to work.

Lunch will be provided to all judges and stewards who work both the morning and afternoon sessions. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the completion of judging at the Country Club. This should be around 5:00 to 5:30 pm on Saturday and everyone is welcome for this part of the event.

Directions: Take I-25 North to exit 11 (Randall/Pershing exit). Stay in middle lane at stop light. Continue north across Randall/Pershing on the frontage road (Hynds) which parallels I-25 about 1 mile (past Frontier Park on your right) to Stinner Rd (the overpass over I-25 on your left).

Or take I-25 North to exit 12 (Central Ave). Turn right on Central and head east. Take the first right past the Governor's Mansion about 1/2 mile down the road on Kennedy Rd. Turn right on Kennedy Rd and follow it about 1/2 mile (through the stop sign to the right) to Stinner Rd (the overpass over I-25 to your right).

I'm sending this email to everyone who confirmed their participation, as well as, to a few participants at previous competitions and the websites of the major front range homebrew clubs. Therefore, you might receive more than one copy of this email.

One final comment. Serveral of you have already provided a hardcopy of our judge/steward registration/waiver form. Everyone will be required to fill out/sign the waiver form prior to participation this Saturday. I've provided a link to that form below so that you could fill it ahead of time and either email it our bring it with you Saturday morning--this would simplify / expedite your checkin at the event: http://www.bbriggs.vcn.com/8secjudg.html

I've also provided a link to the BJCP website http://www.bjcp.org This website has a lot of helpful information on beer styles, judging/judge instructions etc which might be of assistance for newer judges.
