Greetings fellow Liquid Poets. This is just a reminder that this
Thursday (Feb. 1) is our meeting for the month at Odell Brewing Co.
(800 E. Lincoln Street) at 7PM. Remember to bring some sweet home brew
(beer, mead, wine, cider, etc.) to share with your fellow members.
Please be generous and considerate and bring enough so that more than a
couple of people have a chance to sample your brew (we sometimes have
40+ people at the meetings!). If you don't have any home brew to share, commercial craft brew is always welcome (hint, hint)! We are also trying something new with the raffle: you can use beer to buy raffle tickets and the winner gets
half of the money and ALL the beer! One 12 oz bottle gets you one ticket and one 22 oz bottle gets you 2 tickets! Home brew or commercial beer will be accepted.

For those that are interested in entering this month's AHA club-only
competition, please bring your samples so that our judges can decide on
the best brew to send out on behalf of the club. We are going to use
our own BJCP-certified judges for this (we have about 8-9!) This months
comp is for low gravity/session beers that have an original gravity of 1.045 or less. This may include beers from any of the following BJCP categories/sub-categories:

1. A, B, D (Light Lagers)
2. A, B, C (Pilsners)
4. A (Dark American Lager)
6. A, B, C, D (Light Hybrid Beers)
8. A, B (English Pale Ales)
9. A, B, C, D (Scottish and Irish Ales)
15. A, B (German Wheat and Rye)
16. A (Belgian and French Ale)
17. A, C, D, E, F (Sour Ale)
20. (Fruit Beer)
21. A, B (Spice/Herb/Vegetable Beer)
22. B, C (Smoke-Flavored & Wood Aged Beers)

Please bring a couple of 12 oz bottles or a 22 oz bottle for sampling.
Keep in mind that if the judges select your brew that you have to cover
half of the shipping cost and half of the entry fee (as well as packaging materials) to get it to CA by Feb. 8 for the final judging.

On a final note, there are a number of people that have NOT paid their 2007 dues (you
probably received an e-mail from Jason/Jester). Please pay your dues
soon or you will be dropped from the e-mail list and lose your
privileges as a LP member. This is going to be a fun year so you don't
want to miss out. Again the dues are $20/ year or $25 for two people in
the same household. You can pay at the meeting or on-line at the LP
club store using PayPal (no credit cards!). Thanks and hope to see you
all this Thursday evening!
Cheers, Remi
