Greetings fellow Poets! Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of February?! WOW, time flies!! Thursday is the first day of March which means it's time for another Liquid Poets meeting. This time we are meeting back at
New Belgium Brewing Co at 7PM. Be sure to bring some home brew (beer, mead, wine, cider, etc.) or craft brew
to share for the general tasting, tasting group panels, or you can even donate some bottles in exchange for some raffle tickets. Here are a few other things going on this meeting:

1) We will be judging samples for the AHA club-only comp, which this time is Category 9: Scottish and Irish ales. This includes all of the sub-categories:
9A Scottish Light 60/-, 9B Scottish Heavy 70/-, 9C Scottish Export 80/-, 9D Irish Red Ale, and 9E Scotch Strong Ale. For more info on these check out:
http://www.bjcp.org/styles04/Category9.html . Please bring a couple of 12 oz bottles or a 22 oz bottle so the judges have enough to sample from. BJCP judges will be selected first for judging unless there are not enough, then we will select others interested in judging these. The winner will send their beer (due 3/24) to CT for the final round on 4/1/07.

2) We'll be judging our first installment of the Iron Brewer Challenge. This time it is for breakfast cereal beers!
This includes any beer brewed with Rahr Pale Malt/any malt extract and at least 12 oz. of any breakfast cereal. There is a $5 entry fee (cash please) and the winner will take all the $. Judging will be open to anyone interested provided we have enough beer to go around to all of the judges. Entrants, please bring enough beer to go around for judging (a couple of pints might be a good amount). Any size bottle(s) will be accepted. There will definitely be some tasty and unique beers here!

3) Other than that, we will have our tasting groups, raffle drawing/prizes, and Best of Show voting. Should be a fun meeting!

In April we will start a series of brewing-related presentations. I'm planning on starting it with a presentation on
hops and how to grow and process your own. I'm hoping to have some rhizomes available for members to plant in their own yards. Cheers and see you all this Thursday at New Belgium! ----> Remi
