We will have a beer social for the first ~ 15 min. You can bring any
homebrews you would like to share with the group.</span></p>

doing a tasting panel. If you have any beers (or meads and ciders) that
you want specific feedback on please bring them. This is an opportunity
to get very direct comments on beer attributes and style for your good or bad
beers. Also, if you have beer that you know has a specific
"problem" - bring it! This is a great educational opportunity
to train other people on beer attributes and taints.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12pt;background-color:white;background-repeat:initial initial"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#222222"><br>
2) We will be doing the next Iron Brewer
Challenge at the February meeting. </span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(34,34,34);background-repeat:initial initial">This Iron brewing challenge is by Jesse McConnell and is
fortified beers with spirits. The goal is to create a drink that
showcases both a spirit(s) and a beer with balance a</span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(33,33,33);background-repeat:initial initial">nd finesse. Note: It is illegal to distill at home and
we (the club) are not promoting making your own spirit but merely blending your
homebrew with a commercially available product. Also, this </span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(34,34,34);background-repeat:initial initial">excludes Bourbon or Whiskey Porters and Stouts since those
have already been done numerous times.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12pt;background-color:white;background-repeat:initial initial"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#222222">
3) The next club-only completion is Barleywine Ales (BJCP 19B and 19C). We will be choosing a beer to represent the
club at the February meeting, so if you have a barleywine that you think is
good enough then please bring it to the next meeting. Looking further ahead, the next club-only completion
is extract beers, </span>where 50% or more of the fermentable sugars must come
from the use of malt extract. We will be
judging these at the May meeting.<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#222222"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12pt;background-color:white;background-repeat:initial initial"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#222222">4) American Pale
Ale (BJCP 10A) is the February style of the month. If you have
a one, please bring it for the table. We will also have some
commercial examples for this style. These discussions will be led by BJCP
judges and are a great opportunity to really dissect the diversity and
qualification for certain beer styles. For brewers who are interested in
learning how competition beer judging works - this is the table to be seated
at! </span></p>
