We'll have a beer social for the first 30 minutes or so before breaking out into a few different groups.

We'll conduct a tasting panel. This is an opportunity for you to get direct feedback about specific beers/wines/meads/ciders/etc. that you have brewed. If you have a beer with a defect, please bring it, this is an opportunity for everyone to learn about defects and for you to learn what caused it and how to avoid it in the future.

The styles of the month for 2014 have already been posted. The style for January is any Scottish session beer (60/70/80 and, yes, even 90 (not an actual BJCP style, but what the hell)). If you are interested in how BJCP judging works, this is the table for you. We'll discuss the BJCP style guidelines and the club will provide some commercial examples to try and compare to the guidelines. You are encouraged to brew for these sessions and homebrewed examples will sampled and compared against the guidelines as well. (And are always the tastiest and best beers at the table!) So if you have one, please bring it in.

BJCP panel. We're starting something new in January. Being headed up by Jay Shambo, the club will provide you the opportunity to have your beer judged by BJCP judges and folks training to be judges, just as it would in a competition. To participate, you need to bring in a bottle to submit to the table, including some basic information: BJCP category, OG, FG, ABV, and IBUs. You will get back a BJCP score sheet with a written review and scores in each category. If you want to know how something you brewed will stack up, bring it in for the BJCP panel.
