<div dir="ltr"><div><p style="margin:0px 0px 24px">Dear Poets and Muses:<br><br>I'm happy to announce that our first meeting of the new year will be at Funkwerks on January 8th.  <b>Please note that we moved the meeting back a week due to the holiday.</b><br><br><b>The highlight of our meeting will be the judging of your holiday beers in our first mini-comp of the year.</b>  Please be sure to bring 2 bottles of your contender and hide them away from the tasting tables until the judging begins!  The winner will receive a $25 gift card to everyone's favorite homebrew shop, Hops and Berries.<br><br><b>Second announcement is that dues are due!</b>  Jesse McConnell, our esteemed new Treasurer, will be taking your money at January's meeting.  I will give the disclaimer now that dues have increased this year, for the first time in like 8 years or something.  You know it's worth it!  The new yearly dues are as follows:<br><br>o    Single membership: $25 ($15 after July 1) for an individual adult<br><br>o    Couple membership: $30 ($20 after July 1) for two adults in the same household<br><br>I have attached the membership application; please print out the second page, fill it out, and bring it with you to the meeting.  This application/waiver is how your name will get onto (or stay on) the e-mail list, as <b>we are wiping the list at the end of the year</b>.  There are too many people on the list who aren't members of the club anymore (or even live in town any more), so we don't need to keep bugging them.  Please spread this news to anyone you know who might want to stay on the list.  We are also getting new nametags and <b>brand-spankin new tasting glasses(!)</b> with our updated logo on them, so please turn in your dues and application in January to get yours.</p><p style="margin:0px 0px 24px">Besides those two things, here is our regular meeting agenda:<br><br><b>Beer Social:</b> For the first half hour of the meeting we hang out, meet, and greet old friends and new members alike. Try other’s homebrew and have others try yours. Essentially geek out about our hobby for a bit. New members, keep an eye out for the Board members who will be introduced during the announcements; any of them will be happy to introduce you around! And don’t forget, this is a club of homebrewers and homebrewers homebrew, so please bring in your homemade fermented beverages to share!<br><br><b>Tasting Panel:</b> This is a small break-out group that gives each other direct feedback on the homebrew you bring. It will be run by an experienced, long-time member of the club.  This group is more in-depth and direct than our beer social portion of the evening, but still not as formal as other break-out groups. If you’d like to get and/or give direct feedback on homebrew, this is the group for you. If you have homebrew with a defect, bring it here! This is an excellent opportunity to learn about defects, to experience them, and to learn how to avoid them in the future.<br><br><b>Style of the Month:</b> One of our most popular groups, this group reviews a different BJCP subcategory every month. In this group, you’ll go over the category, drink some commercial examples, and compare them with the guidelines. Then repeat with beer brewed by club members! If you’re interested in how BJCP judging works, this is an excellent group to get involved with.<br><br>The first style of 2015 will be English Brown (11), perfect for winter. The list for the whole will be announced soon, so you can start brewin'.  I'll bring some commercial examples, and I hope to see some homebrew versions as well.  One of the Board members (maybe me) will lead this panel.<br><br>Happy Christmahanakwanzika everyone!  See you in the New Year.</p></div><div><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div style="font-size:small">Cheers,</div><div dir="ltr" style="font-size:small">Alison<div><br><div>The Liquid Poets</div><div>Homebrewing Society<br></div></div></div><div><a href="http://www.liquidpoets.com/" target="_blank" style="font-size:small;color:rgb(17,85,204)">http://www.liquidpoets.com</a></div></div></div></div></div></div>
