Just a followup to those of you interested in good local honey. I'm passing this on for John Maday (the beekeeper/brewer from the Mead Day get-together).

He looked online at the National Honey Board and saw that the average wholesale and retail prices for honey are $2.80 and $3.91 per pound, respectively. He's willing to make people an even better deal by selling 1 gallon jugs at $2.25/lb ($27 per 12 lb gallon). He'll also sell quart jars (3 lbs each), so people can get 15 lbs for a batch, at $7.50 per quart (the jars cost him a bit more, so that's why the quart price is a little bit higher.

John can be reached at jmaday2 at msn.com or at 226-4128.

I will also have some extra honey, so if he runs out, I'd be willing to match his price, too. But contact John first.

As a personal reference for John's honey, I'll mention that I've been using his honey for years and I've produced some great meads.

Regards,
Jester
