[Liquidpoets] yeast propagation seminar

So, we have a yeast bank with some 10-12 strains in it, available on
agar slants to all members. Most of these aren't all htat commercially
available, so the possibility for some unique brews is obvious. Many
of us may have never inoculated wort from a slant, or even made a
starter. Some of us may be perfectly comfortable propagating it in our
bathwater then pitching it into a lub-function beer. Whatever your
skill/experience, I want to try and make the yeast bank available to
more than just the nerdiest echalon.
Toward that end JP, the yeast tech at Odell Brewing, has offered to
give us a 2hr class on yeast handling protocol. He can go over
anything we want, but depending on the experience of the audience, it
could be anything from simple propagation from a slant with basic lab
technique to acid washing, blue staining and cell counting.
Our first thought was the first week of Dec, but that happens to be
right after the party, the week of the meeting, and the week lots of
us are out at our festive functions.
Questions be:
Who would like to go (in general)?
Who would go if it were the 5th of Dec (Tues)?
Of those interested, what would you like to get out of the class?
(E.g., everything there is to know, how to prop from a slant, how to
correctly wash my hands, etc.)
Please respond today or sooner if possible, so I can either set this
up, or let it go to January when the smoke has cleared.
I'm looking for a suggested donation of $5/head but he says he doesn't care.
Thanks!
