Hi all!
The next Liquid Poets meeting will be at the Fort Collins Brewery, 1020 E.
Lincoln Ave, Fort Collins, CO. This will be our first meeting at their new
location and have arranged for a tour at 6:30pm, the meeting runs 7-9pm and
will include our normal round of announcements and tasting panels. Fort
Collins Brewery is contract brewing for New Planet, who focuses on
gluten-free beer, check them out at http://newplanetbeer.com/homepage/ .
For those of you on a gluten free/restricted diet this would be a
great opportunity to bounce questions off of the brewers who are, on a
contract basis, producing this unique product and I'm sure they'll be more
than happy to answer all of your ingredient and process questions.

The Liquid Poetry Slam is coming up soon, this is the club's annual home
brew competition and strives to reward local home brewers with T-shirts,
ingredients, bragging rights, and (most importantly) unbiased and
constructive feedback for the mere price of an entry fee and a two 12oz
beers. This year's competition is supported by multiple Pro-Am brewers,
breweries will be on hand to award home brewers with a chance to brew their
beers on a commercial scale and enjoy the results on draft. Entries will
also be entered into the GABF's Pro-Am competition. Anyone can enter the
competition but only current AHA members will be considered for spots in the
Pro-Am. More info here:

New Belgium has 1/4bbl kegs available to home brewers for $10 each, these
are surplus stainless steel kegs that are intact and priced to sell. Keep
in mind that these are 7 gallons, NOT 15.5 gallons. First come, first
served, email me with quantities and we can work on a pickup time.

Big Brew is coming up the first Saturday in May and is always a good time.
What is Big Brew? Check out this link:
http://wiki.homebrewersassociation.org/AHABigBrew . This year Chris and
Janna have offered to host at their new house. Hops and Berries will be
bringing the burgers and brats and the club will supply munchies. This year
we do ask that members attending bring a little something to share, pot luck
style. We will have more than enough beer thanks to H&B comping local home
brewers and supplying a few batches themselves.

There's quite a few more things going on locally but I'll cover those in my
next email a few days prior to the May meeting because this email is
becoming a telethon, so I'll just leave it there and close with a Chuck
Norrisism.

Have a great weekend,
Brian Thompson
*Chuck Norris started his stage career as a young magician - Walker: Texas
Illusionist - once cut a lady in half on-stage. He then lit a cigar and
chuckled as the audience freaked out.*
