[Liquidpoets] Upcoming events and a proposed change to the LP Bylaws

Hi all!

current LP member, and since you're probably a current member you're invited
to the annual summer BBQ this weekend at the big pink barn located at 2902

Also, the annual LP camping trip is the following weekend.  We have a large
group campground reserved starting on Friday the 19th until Sunday the 21st.
 It's a lovely place with quick access to hiking, mushroom hunting, bike
riding, and an RV loaded with leftover food + beer from the summer party
(but seriously, most of us go there to enjoy nature.)  Here's a link to

As per the subject line: the board has hashed out the details for a new
position within the club which is really separating the current Special
Events Coordinator into two different roles that separate the large but
infrequent competition coordination responsibility from the steady but not
overwhelming events coordination.  The text of the proposed change reads as
follows:

Events Coordinator – The Events Coordinator is responsible for the
coordination of the annual summer barbeque and and the annual holiday
party. The Events Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting
volunteers, selecting venues, and all other details necessary for a
successful event. Other events, including but not limited to
fund-raising activities and educational trips as agreed upon by the
club officers may also be the responsibility of the Special Events
Coordinator or may be delegated to the Public Liaison board member
(see description).

Competition Coordinator – The Competition Coordinator is responsible
for the coordination of club sponsored competitions.  The Competition
Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and qualifying judges,
stewards, and other necessary personnel, reserving an appropriate
venue, and implementing a process wherein entries are documented and
adequately preserved for the competition as well as providing for a
full accounting of any fees collected, if appropriate.  The
Competition Coordinator will be responsible for registering the
competition date with the sanctioning body and all follow-up reporting
requirements required by said sanctioning body.  Other
responsibilities may include ensuring timely distribution of feedback
to competition entrants and appointment of persons to leadership
positions specific to individual competitions.

If I had any real say in this country's legislative process all proposed new
laws would be written in comic sans, but someone keeps forgetting to ask my
opinion.  Any constructive input from the club at large will be seriously
considered (note: "you suck" is not constructive input unless it comes with
advice on how to suck less and a work safe picture of kittens.)  Please feel
