All,
Many of you brew beer and have spent-grains and you might not know what to
do with them. Dog-treats, horse-treats, or breads (pizza!) use a few lbs at
best.
Robert From Home Grown Foods <http://www.homegrownfoodcolorado.org/> has a
good solution, better than throwing them in the trash, and asked me to
forward this to the club. Basically you email
compost at homegrownfoodcolorado.org and let them know you have some
spent-grains. They contact you to arrange pickup and then compost the
spent-grains and use them in their gardens. From what I understand the
grains compost quickly and have a fair bit of nitrogen.
Robert came to the February meeting (@Funkwerks) and talked briefly about
their program and handed out business cards (attached). I've heard nothing
but positive things from people that have had their grains picked up.
Thanks,
Kyle
