Hey Poets,

Our next LP meeting will be at *Pateros Creek* on *Thursday* *March 1st* @
7:00 PM.

We will have a beer social for the first ~ 15 - 20 min. Please bring any
homebrews you would like to share with the group.

1) We will be doing tasting panel. If you have any beers (or meads and
ciders) that you want specific feedback on please bring them. This is an
opportunity to get very direct comments on beer attributes and style for
your good or bad beers. Also, if you have beer that you know has a
specific "problem" - bring it! This is a great educational opportunity to
train other people on beer attributes and taints. Don't be ashamed, there
are only two types of brewers, those that have brewed bad beer and those
that will!

2) *Dry Stout* (BJCP: 13A) is the March style of the month. If you have a
dry stout, please bring it for the table. There will be a
few commercial examples for calibration and tasting and then we will get
into the homebrews. These discussions will be lead by BJCP judges and is a
great opportunity to really dissect the diversity and qualification for
certain beer styles. For brewers who are interested in learning how
competition beer judging works - this is the table to be seated at!

3) We will be selecting the AHA club only competition representative
for *Stout
It Out Loud.* If you have *any* Stout (BJCP 13 A-F) please bring it. A
panel of BJCP and non-BJCP judges will select the best example of style and
send it along. It doesn't cost anything to enter the selection process and
if you win, the club will pay for your shipping and entry cost. If you
want to enter a dry stout for both style of the month table and the AHA
club only selection table, *bring 2 bottles.* This will take some time to
go through, so if your entering of judging please come on time and be
prepared to get started right away.

4) April's style of the Month is Kolsch (BJCP:6C). This is a highly
refreshing and drinkable beer style that is perfect to bring in the spring.
If you haven't started your kolsch yet, your running out of time. These
beers usually benefit from a least a short aging (lagering) period. Brew
it soon! Brew it now!

5) We are looking for any club member who wants to do a follow up Dry
Stout brew day on Saturday March 3rd. As previously mentioned the club
will provide for up to $25 dollars in beer and $10 - $15 in food/snacks for
people who can host at least 7 people. I have already heard great feedback
on the last club sponsored brew day at the Kregowski's. This is a great
opportunity to check out other people's brewing systems and processes, not
to mentioned try some nice beers and share some home brews. I'll even
throw in a free slant of Brewtec CL-240 Dry Irish stout yeast for the first
volunteer, if they let me know before the meeting. (Note, a starter will
be required for effective use).

6) Its Iron Brewer challenge month. We will be doing "*No Hop Beers.*"
It's five dollars per beer to enter the challenge and the winner gets the
money pot, the choice of the next challenge, and Iron Brewer bragging
rights!

7) Also, it's membership renewal time. $20 dollars for individ. and $25
for family. Don't forget to sign your waiver forms either.

8) The Mazer cup is still looking for judges if your interested in judging
world class meads in an international competition go to their website and
register. (see below for website)
