Hey Poets,
Just a quick note to the membership.
On Monday Sept. 15th, Alex Grote, Ted Manahan, and I had the honor of
representing the Liquid Poets at a Red Cross appreciation party for large
donors to the High Park Fire relief fund. While I felt our $1000 donation
was certainly generous, I never would have assumed that it would land us in
a small room of philanthropists. The main purpose of the event was to
explain how our donation is being used at the Red Cross and specifically
how it relates to the High Park fire relief effort.
The staff at the Northern Colorado Red Cross were very excited to meet the
"Liquid Poets." We got all kinds of comments and questions. A few of my
favorite were:
"Do you guys have an office downtown?"
"We thought you guys were people that wrote poetry and drank."
"Wait a minute, you guys are just a social club of people who like to drink
and brew? Why did you guys make this donation?"
I just wanted to once again thank all of you for being part of "just a
social club of people who like to drink and brew." Our donation is helping
people get back on their feet after an tragically life changing event.
Cheers to homebrew and homebrewers!

Our next LP meeting will be at *Coopersmiths Pub and Brewery* on *Thursday*
October* 4th *@ 7:00 PM.
We will have a beer social for the first ~ 15 min. You can bring any
homebrews you would like to share with the group.
>
1) We will be doing tasting panel. If you have any beers (or meads and
ciders) that you want specific feedback on please bring them. This is an
opportunity to get very direct comments on beer attributes and style for
your good or bad beers. Also, if you have beer that you know has a
specific "problem" - bring it! This is a great educational opportunity to
train other people on beer attributes and taints.
>
2) *Spice, Herb, or Vegetable* (BJCP: 21A) is the October style of the
month. If you have a one, please bring it for the table. We will bring a
couple commercial examples for calibration. Discussions will be lead by
BJCP judges and is a great opportunity to really dissect the diversity and
qualification for certain beer styles. For brewers who are interested in
learning how competition beer judging works - this is the table to be
seated at!
3) November style of the month is Belgian Golden Strong Ale.
