Good Afternoon Poets,

I acquired a large (55gal) whiskey barrel a few months back from my
neighbor who's from Utah and the only thing I know about it was that is was
infected to lacto for sure and it had been sitting for a while. Anyways,
this past Saturday Andy and I were able to scrape it "clean" and check if
it would hold water and it does (thanks again Andy!). So, I went home and
built a stand for it and refilled it with water. Now, I am on the search
for anyone that is interested in brewing for this barrel project. I need 9
more brewers to brew a 5 gallon batch each, since my neighbor and I are
brewing 10 gallons. I have been working on a brown ale recipe with about
5% ABV and low IBUs (~15) because I want to sour it. Possibly we will be
able to get some bugs from New Belgium? I want to fill this thing by the
end of October because I plan to let it sit in the barrel until May 2013
(because I am moving to San Antonio). I know its not a long time but it
will be long enough to develop the wood character and start the bugs and
when we pull it back out you can age it however long you like. I am very
excited about this and I hope others are too!

Please email me if you are interested!

Thanks,
Mike Barnhart
