Hi Gang;

We need a dozen brewers from this great club to brew

5 gallons of beer for this project;

We will all learn something and have an opportunity to

educate our fellow brewers.

Here's how it will work:

We'll all brew the same recipe of pale ale on bottom page 29 of Zymurgy May/June 2013, using different hops; just 5 gallons.

If you don't have Zymurgy, don't worry I'll send out the recipe.

Important: I'd like to change the recipe just a tad to make it a little more affordable for us all. Just by substituting plain Pale malt instead of the Maris Otter; which will cost more.

Unless there are some serious objections.

You can choose the varitey of hops to use; but there are several we need to make sure are covered;

Cascade

Centennial

Amarillo

Columbus

Simcoe

Calypso

Magnum

Pacific Gem

Citra

Any New Zealand hop

Any hop in which you have an interest, except no noble hops

I'll think of more....

Then we'll pick a date some weekend this fall and everyone will get a chance to evaluate them all

and we'll record our comments, rank them; and I'll write it up for publication.

All you need to do is brew 5 gallons of beer; and we can do something that has never been done or at least never to this scale, and learn lots about hops.

I'll coordinate this so we don't all use the same hops; and I even have a couple of varieties to contribute to a brewer that wants to use them.

The more brewers we can get in this project, the more we will learn!

So send me an email and let me know if you are willing to participate and which hops you'd like to use.

Don't worry you'll have all summer to get this done!

Sign up now. Please.

Thanks Very Much Jim "Doc"
