[Liquidpoets] Website and Bots

I've gotten a few questions and concerns about the bots that have hacked
our website. So here's a short explanation:

Bots are programs that mimic human behavior on the internet. In this case
they are registering as users and trying to send email (spam) out from our
domain.

There are no security concerns for individual users from the bots. They
more or less just bog down our site with superfluous postings and make us
look bad as the return address for spam that gets sent out.

I hope that makes things clearer.

For those of you who are techies out there. I'm looking for ways to keep
registration open, but to defeat the bots. Preferably without programming
as my PHP is pretty rusty.

Cheers,
Jason L Connor
