[Liquidpoets] A gentle reminder about our gracious hosts

Poets,

Once a month, a local brewery opens their doors to all of us, sharing both
their space and their knowledge. Sometimes, they even make an effort to
share materials such as ingredients with us. Each and every time, they do
so for no charge. All they ask for is our gratitude and respect.

Unfortunately, sometimes people take advantage of our hosts. Most of the
time, all it takes to remedy the situation is for a few members to stay
behind and clean up after others. On rare occasions, the offense is worse.

While browsing Craigslist recently, I came across a post selling "Unique &
Hard to get Hops!". This post was selling, for $50, bags of El Dorado,
Sorachi Ace, and Apollo hops that were donated to club members by New
Belgium. After the generosity that all of our hosts, especially the people
at New Belgium, show Liquid Poets, seeing this advertisement taking
advantage of them is shameful, and unbecoming of a Liquid Poet.

I know that 99% of us know better than this. This is not a public shaming,
either. I'm not naming names. The person who put up this ad knows who
they are, and I truly hope they realize they made a mistake, instead of
thinking it was acceptable to profit from a gift like this. The reason
this email is being sent out to the entire LP list is to make a point: We
should all behave in a way that would make the rest of us proud, because at
some point someone will discover that we're an LP member and judge the rest
of us accordingly. When that happens, it should be for the quality of our
beers and our character, not for some silly Craigslist ad trying to make a
few bucks off of someone else's generosity.

Thank you for reading my rant and standing behind LP against things like
this.
