Hello Poets!

Since this week is also GABF week, our October meeting will be held *NEXT*
*WEEK* on October 10th at Horse & Dragon Brewing Company from 7-9pm.

*Liquid Poetry Slam:*

Please remember that we are moving the Slam to a fall competition to be
held on the last weekend of October. This fall we will be holding it on
October 29-30. Entries are being accepted now and you can enter up until
our deadline of October 21st. Hops & Berries NORTH is a local drop off
location. Many local breweries will be on hand to select their 2017 GABF
Pro-Am entries, so get your fantastic beers entered and see if you can
score a Pro-Am!

*2017 Elections for Board of Directors:*

Elections for the 2017 Board of Directors will be held during the month of
November, with final voting and results being announced at the December
meeting. In the next week or two we will be sending out information
related to all current Board positions so that everyone is aware of the
roles and responsibilities for each. Hopefully this will be informative for
you and you will see that serving on the Board is not a gigantic, scary
commitment. We are only successful as a club due to the work and
leadership of our members, and particularly the Board each year. Please
keep an eye out for this information and consider running for a Board
position for 2017!

*2016 Festivus Party & Food Bank Silent Auction:*

We will once again be gathering to celebrate another great year of home
brewing and holding a silent auction to benefit the Larimer County Food
Bank. Please mark your calendars for an evening of celebration and fund
raising for our community on the evening of *Saturday December 3rd!* The
location is still being determined, but this is the primary date we are
currently planning on. As usual the club will provide the main course
protein as well as a vegetarian option and we will potluck the rest of the
meal with tasty contributions of those attending. More information to
follow as we get more details ironed out.

*Tasting Panel:*

Since we seem to always have a lot going on at meetings, and those wanting
feedback on beers may not always remember to bring 2 bottles, we are going
to try something new with the tasting panel over the next couple of
months. We are going to ask those who are BJCP certified judges if they
would be willing to give one-on-one feedback to other members who are
seeking it. Those BJCP members who are willing will have a special name
tag denoting that they are willing to take a minute or two and review your
beer with you. If you are BJCP certified, and you are willing to help out
other club members at our meetings, please let one of the Board Members
know and we will get you setup with the special name tag.

*Beer Social:*

As usual, we will gather around the beer table for the first 15-20 minutes
of the meeting and greet new and old friends alike. Bring something you
have made recently, something you have had aging for a while, or anything
in between. Let's sample some great home brew!

*Style of the Month:*

Overall the goal this year will be to have a couple of commercial examples
and a number of home brewed examples at each meeting. The focus of the
table will be to examine the examples based on the BJCP Guidelines and see
how will they compare. Hopefully this will be in informative table where
members can get down and dirty with the details of the chosen style.

October’s Style of the Black IPA (21D) so bring your best Black IPA to
share! Below is the full list for Style of the Month. If you are
interested in leading one of these tables, please let me know and I'll get
you penciled in.

*Style of the Month List:*

October – Black IPA (21D)

November – Autumn (30B) and Winter Seasonal (30C)

December – Imperial Stout (20C) and Oatmeal Stout (16B)

I hope to see most of you next week at Horse & Dragon!

Cheers!
Alex
