Good summer, Poets!

The 4th of July looms large this week, but my high point will be the club
meeting on Thursday, July 5th. Equinox Brewing will our kind host. I always
encourage you to come early and support the host brewery, and this time is
no different, but there's another good reason to drop in before the
meeting: My group and I will be providing music from 5:30 to 7:00pm. The
added bonus is that I can use the PA so everyone will actually hear the
announcements this time;-)

July's style of the month is hoppy beers. If you have something that you
think fits that description, bring it to the style table. Otherwise, we'll
continue having our general tasting panel and beer talk groups.

To take advantage of my PA, I'm planning to start the meeting pretty much
at 7pm. We'll split into groups for about 45 minutes and then set up the
remainder of the time for general socialization.

Two more items of business:
1) Iron Brewer Challenge
The club used to have an Iron Brewer Challenge, but that seems to have died
out. It used to be quite fun, so we're going to reboot it. The way it works
is there's a specialty ingredient or constraint that all entries must
follow. Anyone who wants to participate can chip in a $5 entry fee when we
do the judging.  The winner takes home the collected pot, maybe with a
bonus, and they get to select the next specialty thing.

The inaugural specialty will be smoked beverages (if you know me, that's no
surprise). We'll plan on judging these at the September meeting. Get
creative

2) The LP Picnic
I've gotten numerous responses and we've got RSVPs for about 30 people or
so to attend. The picnic will be on Saturday, July 14 at my house, from
1-5:30pm or so. If you haven't RSVP'd, please do.
